"Parable of the Sower & the Soils"
Christ’s parable in the New Testament is intricately depicted in this bronze tabletop sculpture — an inspired portrayal of both those who sow the gospel and the conditions of the hearts of those who hear the Word. Three sizes are available – 12″, 24″ and 1.33′ monumental size.
“And these are the ones along the path, where the word is sown….
(T)hose seeds that were sown on the good soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” — Mark 4:15,20
— Mark 4:2-20
And Jesus was teaching them many things in parables….
“Listen! Behold, a Sower went out to sow.
And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.
Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil.
And when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away.
Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain.
And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.”
…And he said to them, “Do you not understand this parable?… The Sower sows the word.”
Franklin Graham, CEO of Samaritan’s Purse and of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association asked Tom White to create a statue depicting Jesus’ parable of the Sower. Tom envisioned including the soils in the parable. The soils expose the condition of men’s hearts by the different types of soil. The monumental size bronze statue is placed in Ruth’s Attic bookstore at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, NC.
The concept for the Sower statue was to visually portray both those who sow the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the hearts of those who hear. They either receive or reject the Gospel, as explained by Jesus to His disciples in Mark 4.
Tom created a “blueprint maquette” of the larger Sower Statue. This is availale for casting in bronze. Currently there are three sizes available: 12″, 24″ and 1.33 life-size (8 ft.) You can see Tom’s line of Biblical Tabletop Sculptures and Christ statues in bronze here on our website.
