Baylor University honors 'RG3' – its 2011 Heisman winner - with monumental bronze sculpture at new football stadium

Robert Griffin, III, 2011 Baylor Heisman Trophy Recipient, was honored with a 9.5 ft. monumental portrait bronze sculpture at the opening of the new McLane Football Stadium at Baylor University, Waco, TX, on August 31, 2014, prior to the first game.

The RG3 bronze recognizing his 2011 Heisman win was created by native West-Texas sculptor Tom White, out of his current home studio in Prescott Valley, Arizona.

The Robert Griffin, III sculpture was made possible by the generous donations of Baylor alumni Dr. John A. Wood (’53) and Patricia A. Wood (’54).

Tom’s process is to create the sculpture in a tabletop version as a blueprint maquette prior to creating in the final monumental size.  These tabletops are also available for recasting.

Tom also produces the College Baseball Foundation’s annual Brooks Wallace Award for the short-stop player of the year.  He has produced snowboarding and other baseball sculptures as well.

Tom White is a gifted, nationally and internationally celebrated portrait sculpture artist who specializes in commisioned public monuments in bronze.  His work is represented in numerous locations across the world.  They include parks and children’s parks, libraries, churches, schools, sports venues and ballparks, cemeteries, businesses, universities, public civic spaces, veterna’s memorial parks as well as in private collections.  He is available to discuss any project you might have in mind for your town, your home or your business.

You can reach Tom’s wife, Marcey, at 800-320-9201 and she will be happy to provide any information you need to get started with your project.
