Rock music’s iconic group, The Grateful Dead, was known for its unique and eclectic style that fused elements of rock, bluegrass, reggae, improv jazz, and more. As lead guitarist in a legendary rock group, Jerry Garcia naturally got a lot of attention. It was his warm, charismatic personality, however, that earned him the affection of millions of “Deadheads”. When the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation undertook the project renovate the Bowl, it was a natural leap to want a monumental size of Jerry’s Hand placed in the new “Jerry Garcia Glen” at the site. His death in August 1995, closed a 30-year chapter of Rock music by this iconic band.
The bronze “Jerry’s Hand” is available in 18″ or 8″ and in traditional or psychelic patina.
A memorial bronze sculpture of his right hand was commissioned by and placed at the Santa Barbara Bowl in the newly renovated “Jerry Garcia Glen” in November 2011.
