Player of the Year Award trophy

Brooks Wallace National Shortstop  Player of the Year Award Trophy

Created for the College Baseball Foundation in Lubbock, Texas, this portrait bronze memorial award trophy is presented annually to the outstanding shortstop in college baseball, and has been awarded annually since 2004.
Until 2008, the award was on-a-par with the Heisman Trophy for college football, presented to the nation’s most outstanding player in the sport. Beginning in 2009, the recipient list was changed to recognize the top collegiate player at the shortstop position.
The Player of the Year Award was named for and honors former Texas Tech shortstop and player-coach Brooks Wallace, who died of leukemia in 1985 at the age of 27, and was known and respected for his admirable character both on and off the field.
Tom White was commissioned by the CBF to create this perennial award and dynamic trophy.
